Server Compatibility
Installing The Fusion Pack
Installing FP Components as Standalone
How to Burn FP to DVD
REQUIREMENTS:
- Windows 2000 or higher (works on WINE too)
- IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 v4.07 or higher (up to 4.09m)
SUPPORTED:
- It doesnt make any difference if you have already modded your game or not.
- No difference if you upgraded to 4.08, 4.09 or not.
- Manually adding mods over FP is fully supported. It works just as it does on manual installations such as SAS, AAA.
- As a rule of thumb, if it works on Ultrapack it should work on FP too.
WARNING:
- IF YOU HAVE ALREADY MODDED YOUR GAME YOU MAY NEED TO REINSTALL SOME MODS. You may want to back up custom mods, hard-to-find mods, etc.
- INSTALLING OVER MODDED GAMES (Ultrapack, SAS, AAA, Previous versions of FP, etc) will completely replace the following folders: MODS, JSGMEMODS, and FILES (also spelled as Files or files). Any mods that you may have installed will be deleted.
Full pack and Upgrade editions come in compressed archives that use the 7z format. This is necessary to make downloading easier, but it adds one more step to the installation procedure: before you can install the FP, you'll have to extract the installer and the data files from the compressed archives.
Say what?!?
Compressed archives. The files have a 'generic' icon and have numbers for file extension. For instance, the Full Pack files are called FP_059_Full.7z.001, FP_059_Full.7z.002, FP_059_Full.7z.003, and so forth.
The actual name is FP_059_Full, 7z means that it was (probably) compressed using a program called 7-zip, and the numbers at the end mean that the compressed archive is split into several files.
You don't have to extract all the 15 files; just extract the first file, the one with a name ending in .001, and the program will automatically pull the data from all the compressed files. Let's see some step-by-step instructions:
- Make sure that you have 7-zip installed (WinRAR should work too)
- Make sure that all of the 15 files are in the same folder
- Rightclick on the first file, that is FP_059_Full.7z.001
- In the quick menu, choose 7-Zip => Extract Here (or WinRAR => Extract Here)
- A new folder called FP_059_Full will be created.
- Wait for 7-zip (or WinRAR) to finish the job (may take a while, it's a large package)
At this point, you're done extracting the compressed archives. The extracted data should be in a folder called FP_059_Full

INSTALLING FP:
- Click on the fp-059-full.exe file. It may be displayed as fp-059-full with no .exe on some systems (it does NOT have a name ending in .bin, anyway).
- Point the installer at your IL2 folder (if you don't know where it is, you can probably keep the default)
- Click 'install'
- Installation may take several minutes and up to half an hour on some low end PC's
- Towards the end of the installation procedure, the setup program will spawn a 'DOS Window': DO NOT CLICK IT OFF! Wait for it to close itself (this may take more or less time depending on your PC performance and up to several minutes)

BURNING FP TO DVD
- FP fits on 2x standard 4.7GB DVDs.
- Burn on DISK 1:
- fp-059-full.exe
- fp-059-full-1a.bin
- fp-059-full-1b.bin
- Burn on DISK 2:
- fp-059-full-2a.bin
- INSTRUCTIONS.txt (optional)
- USE A LOW BURNING SPEED! (Not higher than 8x, even better 4x)
INSTALLING FROM DVD
- Pop DISK 1 into the tray, click fp-059-full.exe and install normally
- You will be prompted to switch disks when appropriate
- Installation time may will be even longer than installing from files on HDD (and a hell of a lot longer than installing from an SSD), due to optical drives being read more slowly. Have patience.
Fusion Facts that you should know about
Please read carefully and make sure you understand.
If in doubt, feel free to ask questions on the Fusion Forum:
- First thing to do is to install IL-2 1946, as that's NOT included in the Fusion Pack
- It doesnt matter what game version you have as long as it's at least 4.07 (stock 1946 DVD).
- It is OK to install on 4.08, 4.09, 4.09b, and even on modded games.
- Installing any UP or HSFX patches over FP *will* screw up the game. Wait for FP-specific versions of the updates, and install those.
- No matter what game version you are running (4.07m, 4.08m, 4.09b1m, 4.09m) Installing FP will switch your game to 4.09m.
- You will be able to switch mods on and off
- You will be able to join servers that run different mods packs, or no mods at all: servers running Ultr@pack, HSFX, UI, Stock 4.09, are all OK as long as they run 4.09m
- You will be able to join CRT=2 servers that run any of the following: Fusion Pack, Ultr@pack, Stock 4.09, and HSFX 4.1.
- In order to join CRT=2 servers you need to disable/enable features to match the server setup. Here is a quick reference chart:
Server compatibility:
*Fusion Pack035 or higher, Ultr@pack 1.8 or higher, Stock 4.09, + CRT=0: fully compatible
*UI1.2 + CRT=0 is only compatible if the server has installed 4.09m (or if the FP client runs the obsolete versions supported by UI)
*HSFX4.1 + CRT=0: Enable HSFX Switcher in JSGME
*Fusion Pack + CRT=2: No special settings needed
*Ultr@pack 2.0n + CRT=2: Disable the whole MODS folder (rename MODS to -Mods)
*HSFX4.1 + CRT=2: Disable MODS folder (rename to -MODS) *and* activate the HSFX Switcher in JSGME
More Good-to-know Fusion Facts:
- The Fusion Pack All-in-One and Add-on Edtion installers will *delete* the existing versions of the following folders: FILES, MODS, -MODS, and JSGMEMODS. They will be replaced with FP versions.
- Therefore, you may want to back up mods that are difficult to find, or that are unique (experimental, work in progress, specially modified, etc)
- FP Upgrade editions and most Standalone Packages DO NOT replace whole folders. Sometimes they do delete specific sub-folders and files.
No part of Ultrapack has been left out of Fusion Pack. Installing FP only *adds* to UP. In some cases stuff is moved around a bit but everything is still there. Post in the Fusion forum if you have any problems, doubts... or just to tell us how awesome we are ;)
NOTES:
- Some JSGME options affect CRT=2. If you get timeout 1 despite being set up for that server, try disabling JSGME stuff.
- All versions of Zuti MDS (aka MDF) are available in FP. The 2 latest MDS versions are installed in JSGME, older versions are stored in X:yourPC\IL-2\_Extra\_ZUTI_MDS_all_versions. To install any of them, copy the descripively named folder(s) into the JSGMEMODS directory.
